Hugh Dessert Dining


Huge Dessert Dining is the pioneer of dessert restaurants in Taiwan. This restaurant started a groundbreaking concept in the city; a one-of-a-kind experience of bringing fine-dining quality desserts from the last course to the main show. The founders, Kent Y, and Chef Victor C., want to share the idea that desserts can be served before savories as the main dish. They present the dessert à l’assiette, which translates to 'the dessert on a plate', as art. They offer four-course meals with drinks as a dining journey.

Chef Victor previously worked as a pastry chef in RAW, a Michelin-starred fine-dining restaurant founded by chef Andre Chiang. The menu includes starters, appetizers, entrees, and beverages with small bite-sized desserts. It follows the four seasons with seasonal ingredients. In addition, they provide limited dine-in and takeout orders, offering boxes of the petit four: small bite-sized french desserts, as well as whole cakes.
Hugh Dessert Dining 位於台北市大同區的平凡巷弄,前身為公寓內的甜點私廚 Hugh Lab。以偏重工作室性質與私廚型態的實驗性甜點空間開始,走過四季時序後, Hugh Lab 正式告一段落,更名為Hugh Dessert Dining。起源自古老的德國,有著靈魂、精神、智力的含義,同時也取名自主廚中文名字裡的最後一字 - 修。圖騰中理性與感性的線條,象徵舌尖上柔和的甜感及層層堆疊的解構主義。

將一整套甜點設計為下午茶套餐,內容包含了開胃小點、前菜、主菜與伴茶小點,搭配擺盤的美感擇取器皿,踏入空間後的服務,從聲音、光線、氣味到溫度,都是細膩思量後的設定,「希望客人體驗整套的享受跟服務,從進門開始,吃完一套甜點到離場就是一個循環,我們要在循環中調整到與客人雙方都最舒適的方式,每個細節都是用餐體驗,不會去定位希望客人感受到什麼,而是讓客人自己產生感受,我們則在更多地方放入想要給客人感受的元素。」

Dessert as Art


To reflect this innovative and modern experience,
I developed a brand identity, assets, and packaging
design for Hugh. The identity system showcases the
combination of specialty and profession, highlighting
the fine-dining quality and artistic desserts.





The identity blends the shape of H and the
marble pattern, which is often seen on french
desserts. The graphic also represents the reeded
glass for the facade of the restaurant.








The New Poem


The menu in Mandarin is designed to be read vertically, the same as the reading direction of Chinese New Poetry. To elevate the design and stand out from other restaurants, I challenged a new style with a poetic aesthetic and only wrote the ingredients, without the name of the meal, to present the essence of the concept.




The postcard comes with the package
in the box of six bite-sized desserts for
customers to take out. The icon symbolizes
the desserts and ingredients.








Art Direction for Seasonal Menu











Stompy



Stompy is a wine subscription service that intelligently tailors wine selections to your taste buds. When developing the brand identity for Stompy, we were tasked with creating a brand that could bring wine to a more modern audience. After all, buying wine does not have to be a scary experience full of weird etiquette and plagued with complicated rules!

In the brand direction, we explored visual cues that challenge the stuffy, snobby stereotypes surrounding wine and instead open up great wine to more great people. Through bold type, bright colors, and humorous illustrations, we aim to inspire wine noobies (and aficionados) to sip more and snob less!

Netflix Maldivas



Netflix's Maldivas is a new series that follows a young woman (Bruna Marquezine) who moves into a posh condo community to investigate a mystery. We were tasked with creating the videos, photography, wordmark, custom type, title treatments & teasers for the new series.

The show is full of pop, gloss, sass and of course intrigue. In developing the artwork we were inspired by one core idea that is thread throughout the series “nothing is what it seems”.

Isodope



Isodope is the online persona of Isabelle Boemeke, a nuclear energy influencer who wants to change what the world thinks about nuclear, one TikTok video at a time. This is a self-funded project with the goal to change public opinion to help solve the climate crisis.

Nuclear historically has had a bad rep & Isodope's goal is to change the public’s perception on it. After all, it is one of the safest and cleanest forms of energy available to us today. The Isodope persona and brand is built to put people’s fear around nuclear at ease through memes that are easy to digest and even easier to share.

Isodope is changing the face of science communications, to share good ideas and mobilize people behind them. Working with the Isodope team we worked on a brand refresh, a new website (coming soon!), and an extended asset library. Since Isodope is a major proponent of future tools, solutions and the use of technology in daily life, we decided to enlist the creative help of Artificial Intelligence tool DALL·E to bring this branding to life.

Illuminarium

What museums are to art, cinemas to movies, and concert halls to music, Illuminariums are to experiential entertainment. Designed by the LAB at Rockwell Group and Rockwell Group’s team of architects, the debut location is a 26,000-square-foot venue with soaring ceilings, a spacious indoor-outdoor café, and an immersive theater surrounding visitors in a sensory space unlike any other.
