bento taïwanais et japonais
Chaud Bento 燒弁当 presents the Taiwanese-Japanese bento box in Montpellier, a city in southern France near the Mediterranean Sea.
Chaud in France means hot, which also has the same pronunciation as taiwanese Hot (燒). Biandang (便當), in Taiwanese pronunciation, is a word from the Japanese “bentō” (弁当), and has transcended time since the period of Japanese domination in Taiwan (1895-1945). Since then, for the Taiwanese, the bento box has been the most economical and accessible lunch, a little treasure of everyday life.
Bento is a taste of home. In Taiwan, bringing bento boxes to school is one of those unforgettable childhood memories, as most of these dishes were lovingly prepared by the family. Bento is the legacy of the authentic and delicious flavors of our land, because it is made for those who matter the most: our families.
